SAN JOSE, CA - Last night I taught lessons at the Chris Cagle show at Rodeo Club in San Jose!

The place was PACKED, about 1,200 raging Cagleheads showed up and some of them came early for line dancing lessons. We taught Watermelon Crawl and Ten Step.

Line Dancing Tip: Start in the Middle!

Hello everyone! Today I'm starting a new feature and that is tips for line dancing! Each week I'll try to send a tip for beginners.

This week's tip is to "Start in the Middle"

If you are new to a dance and want to have the best chance of learning it and having fun, you want to position yourself in the middle of the dance floor. I know this might sound scary, but the middle is the best place to start because most dances face at least two different walls, if not all four. This means that anyone on the outside or in the back of the floor will eventually be in the front!

So, today's tip is start in the middle...you will always have someone to follow and will learn much quicker.

There is some pretty exciting news that I have to share with you tonight! This coming Saturday, I start a class at a college!

Here's the description from the college site:

"Join Adam the Dancing Cowboy for fun and easy line dance lessons! This is a beginning class with no experience necessary, but continuing line dancing students are welcome, too! In this four-session class, you will learn the basic steps and put them together to form many popular line dances, including the Electric Slide, Tush Push, and Watermelon Crawl. After this class, you’ll be able to use what you learned to go line dancing at the many places in the Bay Area."

KRTY Halloween Party Last Night

Last night was the KRTY Halloween party at The Rodeo Club and we had a blast! My friends and I had dinner before and when I walked into the restaurant, the whole place gave a round of applause. Wasn't quite sure why...I was the ugliest dressed girl there. LOL. Tomorrow I will have the pictures and you will see Dorothy the Dancing Cowgirl. =) Let me tell you it is REALLY tough to line dance in ruby high heels. One more party tonight to go and I can hang up the slippers for good! Wish me luck!

Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - San Francisco, CA

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - One of my friends is on the KRTY Team for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on July 11, July 12 & July 13 in San Francisco.

She is raising funds to help find a cure for breast cancer along with twenty other KRTY friends and hundreds of others.

When I needed basic country dancing lessons so I'd not be embarrassed to get 'off my duff' and on the dance floor with my wife and daughter, I called Adam. It's true that beer has been making white men dance for thousands of years, but not drinking denied me the magic elixir to make me forget I did not know how to dance! Adam on 95.3 KRTY YouRadio Soon!

SAN JOSE, CA - Last week I recorded my picks for KRTY YouRadio and I'm pretty excited about it! If you haven't heard about it, 95.3 KRTY has a segment where they let the average joe give a little history about why they picked the five songs they did.

My segment will be aired Saturday November 17th, 2007 between 7am and 8am.

It will also be replayed on Thanksgiving night. Nov. 22nd and will start between 8:50pm and 9:50pm.

A couple of the songs are line dancing related. Listen in to 95.3 FM in San Jose, CA and let me know what you think!

Line Dancing in Foster City, CA @ PJCC

FOSTER CITY, CA - Tonight is the third of six line dancing classes at the PJCC in Foster City. So far the class has gone really well! There have been about 10 people each time. So far we have gone over the Electric Slide, Watermelon Crawl, Alley Cat and Cruisin'. Each week we review and add another line dance or two.

There are still two classes left after tonight, so if you're close to Foster City and looking to learn to line dance, come on down!

Drop in fee: $15 per class.

Line Dancing - Google in Mountain View, Graduation Parties, Wedding Rehearsals, College Parties and other BBQ's

This summer, we taught line dancing at many events in the Bay Area and I did not get a chance to post about them, so here are highlights from some of them.

Google - Mountain View, CA
Debbie and Amelia at Google were great! They had a BBQ at lunch to appreciate their hardworking employees on a Friday in June and it was a lot of fun! The catered BBQ by Armadillo Willy's was tasty as well. Google sure has a fun culture!


Graduation Party
In late June, we taught line dancing at a graduation party in Saratoga, CA. This was another fun event. His family and friends got out to line dance and all ages had fun! The family put on a small talent show and it was clear that this young man will go far!

Wedding Rehearsal
This event was held at a private ranch and from the picture, you can tell these guys did not want to line dance!


The people at the party did, however, and there were about 40 people tearing it up after our lessons. Local Bay Area favorite, The Bell Brothers were at this event providing live music and kept the party going too! It was great working with you guys!


College Party
At a local university, we provided line dance lessons for a group of fun loving college students. These groups usually have a high percentage of people who want to learn, and this one was no different! College students learn fast a love to learn as many dances as they can. Great job to everyone who was there!

Mystery Line Dance Workshop in So. Cal !

Bill Montana, the usual Wednesday night instructor, was out sick, so the manager asked me to fill in for the night! The line dance was "Un, Dos, Tres" and the couples dance was Two Step (beginner).

Jamey Johnson and Rhett Akins

On Friday night March 31st, there will be a Hot Country Concert you don't want to miss!

The Rodeo Club and KRTY present two artists for the price of one!

Jamey Johnson and Rhett Akins will be playing THIS friday night at The Rodeo Club in San Jose, CA.

Jamey's new song "The Dollar" helped to land his new album on the Top 20 list.  What I just found out in the linked article is that Johnson also was a co-writer for "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk".

Rhett Akins' hits "That Ain't My Truck" and “Don’t Get Me Started” will probably be on the setlist as well.  Rhett has a new CD released that will probably turn heads.

Tickets are only $10 and it is a 21 and over show.

Brad Paisley at Shoreline!

Brad Paisley will be coming to Shoreline on May 14th, 2006!  Opening for him are Sara Evans and Josh Turner.

Tickets will be available starting Sunday, April 2nd at 10:00am through Ticketmaster and the Shoreline Amphitheatre box office.

Brad has a long list of hits including: "Who Needs Pictures", "Me Neither", "I'm Gonna Miss Her"(Fishing Song), "Mud on the Tires", "Celebrity", "Little Moments", "Alcohol", and "When I Get Where I’m Going" (duet w/ Dolly Parton).

Many of Brad Paisley's songs are fun and easy to dance to, with two step being the most popular beat.

The Rodeo Club - San Jose, CA

SAN JOSE, CA - The Rodeo Club is one of the places Adam can be found dancing.

The Rodeo Club opens two main dance floors on country nights.  The larger front one is used for couples dancing and line dancing, as the line dancers have seem to forgotten the line dance floor to the side of the stage.  The Club Rodeo seems to stay with country music longer than the Rack.

This is the club that KRTY sponsors, so you can listen to KRTY 95.3 FM for news on upcoming concerts.  The picture above is of Julie Roberts, the country singer, not Julia Roberts the actress. =)

My advice:  The Rodeo Club is only open for country on Wednesday and Friday nights.  Doors open at 7p, Lessons at 7:30p, and live music starts at 9p.  Listen to KRTY for updates, as the schedule for this club is subject to change.

The Saddle Rack - Fremont, CA

FREMONT, CA - The Saddle Rack is one of the places Adam can be found dancing.  From November 2004 to July 2005 and again from January 2006 to August 2006, Adam helped with dance lessons at The Saddle Rack.  There he made many friends and learned alot about line dancing instruction.

The Saddle Rack has two main dance floors.  The larger front one usually is used for couples dancing until sometime after 10:30pm on weekend nights.  After that time, not much country dancing happens, as the atmosphere turns club-like.

The back dance floor at The Saddle Rack is usually for line dancing.  On Friday nights, many of the dance instructor's helpers stay around and enjoy themselves.  Usually someone will know a dance that corresponds to each song.  If you can pick up dances quickly, this is one of the best ways to pick up a dance or two.

My advice:  Get there as early as you can when the country dancing is hot and before the clubbers get there and take over.  Doors open at 7p, Lessons at 7:30p on weeknights, and live music starts at 9p.

Campbell Museum Foundation - Campbell, CA

On Saturday Oct. 8th, Adam taught many country line dancing lessons during the entertainment portion of "Boots & Bangles", a fundraiser for the Campbell Museum Foundation. Students enjoyed learning the Watermelon Crawl so much that they asked for more, including the Two Step, Cowboy Cha Cha, and the Alley Cat.
